If you are injured at work or if your work environment causes you to have a disease or illness then you should notify your employer as soon as possible. You are required to provide all pertinent information to both the mayor’s office and your employer within 30 days of your injury. If you do not give notice of your injury in this time frame then you are no loner eligible to collect any payout from a workers’ compensation claim. In order to proceed with your workers’ compensation claim you must file the appropriate claim within one (1) year of your workplace injury.
